2010 GottaPlay Review

Renting video games has become more and more popular since the economy took a turn and people are less willing to pay full price for video games. As a result, great companies have stepped up to provide a service that allows its customers a chance to play games for less initial cost. Companies such as Gamefly and Gamerang have lead the way in game rentals. That doesn’t mean they are the only options though. Recently, rising up to the challenge is GottaPlay which offers games from 9 locations across the United States. That’s 9 distribution centers to provide its members with the fastest shipping possible across the country. Will they be the next top service? Only time will tell.

Gottaplay: Offering over 4000 game titles!

Gottaplay has its absolute advantages, as well as its unfortunately obvious disadvantages. First, we’ll look at the advantages. At any given time, Gottaplay has thousands of games in stock, ready to ship out to you as soon as you request. If there’s a game you want, chances are, Gottaplay probably has it. This company has something to offer for the whole family whether it be games to play together or solo games that will keep you on the edge of your seat! They currently support Sony’s Playstation 2, Playstation 3, PSP, Microsoft’s Xbox360 as well as Xbox, Nintendo Gamecube, Ninetendo DS, and the Wii!

Gottaplay offers two rental plans, putting you in charge of how much to spend. With month to month rates ranging from $12.95 – $20.95, you are given the option to keep one game at a time up to two games at a time. Something unique to Gottaplay is that if you prepay your membership for 2 games at a time, you’ll be given a discount. You can prepay up to a year in advance and save 28%

Unfortunately, like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. Gottaplay is cheaper than Gamerang and Gamefly but it comes with a price. Although they have thousands of titles, they still have a little more than half of the inventory Gamefly has. They are constantly adding titles but that doesn’t change the fact that for now, you may have to be on a short waiting list to get the game you desire. If this is a problem for you, I’d suggest going to Gamefly since they boast an inventory of 7500 titles whereas Gottaplay has 4000 and they have more copies of each title.

All things considered, Gottaplay can be a great alternative for the average gamer that is patient and just wants to save a few bucks here and there. If you are looking for a good game rental company just do your homework and I’m sure you’ll find the right place for you. If Gottaplay is your choice, then I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
