“Hire people with Experience (and college degrees?)”

I have been working at Oscar de la Renta full-time (More than 3 years)

the CEO is wonderful, design team was lovely, product is stunning.

forced to actually steal for my manager, had to withstand extremely late hours out of spite, being told I am not allowed to leave, being held hostage, extremely poor management, terrible people with little working experience. Oscar hires 32 year old interns with 0 real-life work experience. Instead of working for the good of the company, ideas are constantly shot down simply because a more “senior” person was not the one to come up with them. Instead of collaboration between departments, which is what happens between MATURE adults, there is constant gossiping and conspiring. The sad part is the product is stunning, and with better (more emotionally stable / mature) managers, it could truly be a great experience. People are hired with no experience so they look to their interns / assistants to do the work FOR them. They make them stay incredibly late at night. Interns are CONSTANTLY quitting because of a few bad eggs.

Advice to Management

Take some time to really look at who you have in “supervisor” or “manager” positions, because there is likely some abusive behavior going on. Most departments are actually okay, but 1 or 2 in particular are horrible. Ask people about where they graduated college from.
